Frequently asked questions
Can I skip language school and go directly to a Japanese university?
Yes, if you have JLPT N2 (usually with EJU) for Japanese-taught programmes, or IELTS/TOEFL and strong grades for English-taught ones. Most HSC students from Bangladesh do not have N2, so language school remains the practical bridge.
Is a senmon gakko diploma recognised in Bangladesh?
It is a Japanese vocational qualification (専門士) recognised by Japanese employers and Immigration for work visas. It is not a bachelor's degree, so it has limited value for Bangladeshi government jobs or foreign master's admission — plan senmon for a career in Japan, not for returning home.
How long does it take to reach N2 at a language school?
Typically 1.5–2 years of full-time study from N5, with 90%+ attendance and self-study. Students who arrive with N4 often reach N2 within a year.
Which is cheaper overall — senmon or university?
Senmon is cheaper in total (2 years at ¥0.9–1.3M) and gets you earning sooner. A national university is cheaper per year (¥535,800) but lasts 4 years; private universities cost the most. Over a career, the degree usually pays back through higher salaries and easier permanent residency.
